CET offers a complete laser cutting service , featuring 2 of the latest 5kW L3050 Trumpf lasers, representing the latest in German laser technology.

The technology incorporated into our new, more powerful machines have increased the cutting speed, quality and thicknesses we are able to process. These increased capabilities have enabled us to reduce cutting charges across the board.

The laser offers programmable increments of 0.01mm with a repeatability of 0.03mm and a tolerance of 0.3mm which is supported by the powerful TOPS nesting software to ensure optimal utilization of materials. The working area is capable of processing plates up to 3000mm x 1500mm.

As a result of our focus on providing a quality cutting service we are able to offer vastly superior service with drastically reduced turnaround times as well as having the capacity to offer production runs on high volume cut components.

We offer both a cut-only service with materials supplied by clients as well as a cut and supply option. We stock a vast range of Materials such as: Mild Steels – 300wa, CQ, Supra, Domex, Hardox, Bennox and Spring Steels. Stainless Steels – 304, 316, 3CR12, 430, as well as duplex steels. Aluminums - typically hard. Special order materials are easily attainable on request.

We also fabricate finished components at very competitive prices, which we supply mainly to the Motor industry and other OEM’s. Other Value-added services include the facility to bend, weld or Powder coat as required.

We are located in Westmead , Durban South Africa and have easy access to both the national road system to facilitate local transportation and are conveniently located in relation to both the port and international airport should shipping or air-freight of components be required. Our location ensures very reasonable transportation rates as well as a secure and reliable source of transporters.

 
     
 



Advantages of laser cutting over mechanical cutting vary according to the situation, but two important factors are the lack of physical contact (since there is no cutting edge which can become contaminated by the material or vice versa), and precision (since there is no wear on the laser). Cutting with laser produces identical parts consistently, maintains close tolerances, can be used on a wide range of materials. There is also a reduced chance of warping the material that is being cut, as laser systems have a small heat affected zone. Some materials are also very difficult or impossible to cut by more traditional means. Laser cutting offers low cost for prototype and short runs since no physical tooling is needed.
